My Favorite Guitar effects pedals

?Wow, now this is a fun topic. Let's go by categories and cover the essentials. All these pedals have Great tone in either a "sonic" way or just great character or "color"

Distortion: Boss DS-1, The most versatile that handles ALL styles great! For the best tone though get the Analogman modded version $100

Overdrive: You gotta get 2 of these, First the Digitech Bad Monkey Overdrive, pretty much a Tube Screamer copy but better. The Bad Monkey right out of the box kills the regular Tube screamers for $40. Very High mid hump tonal thing that's been used on a million records from SRV to Metallica. Second: Nobels brand Overdrive, the best IMO for keeping your natural tone but just adding GREAT overdrive, this is a really "under the radar gem" $50. I recently did 9 songs in the studio and changed my tones by switching guitars while using this pedal only and it's amazing for all styles from southern rock to the modern stuff. It won't do Dimebag stuff but covers everything else. My favorite OD ever!

Chorus: Boss CE-2 Blue Box Japan made, the industry standard on e-bay $65. Second The Electro Harmonix Small Clone Re-issue $70. Don't spend the money for the vintage ones this pedal is just as good. Very 'organic' LUSH chorus. These get a lot of variations in tone and give up that BEAUTIFUL Boston guitar sound chorus.

Tremolo: Boss TR-2 Analogman modified. $125-150. His mods sound like the REAL Fender tremolo cicuits. Get the modded version!

Phaser: Mxr phase 90 for lush but SUBTLE shading. $70? Any Maxon Phaser they're GREAT for more extreme stuff- used $150.

Delay: Boss DD-2 or DD-3. All the new versions DD5 and DD6 suck tonally. $75

Wah: Crybaby or the Vox wah both industry standards. $70

Reverb: The E.H. Holy Grail rocks, the best "spring reverb" sound yet. $99

Others: Zvex or Zachary Vex pedals, the BEST Boutique pedals made PEROD. The Super Hard On is a Boost that has a GREAT sonic openess to it that guys just keep on all time. Reminds me of the the old Neve E.Q's that add that great sonic character! He also makes the most whacked out strange totally unique effects ever, check his stuff out! $300?

So basically buy as many boss pedals as you can.

I strongly disagree with most of this, but because it's well written a good article. So 50 % for my opinion, 50 % from an objective angle. Three

I'm looking around for an overdrive pedal... the cheaper the better! Your review was very helpful (where can I look for Nobels Overdrive?) I like the warmer sounds of overdrive compartively to disortion, though i have no complaints about by Digitech Hot Head!
