As you can see the AT 4033 is not exactly smooth.  In fact, it's a constant wave through out the frequency spectrum which is quite a departure from the AT 4050.  This may explain why the 4033 sounds great on some sources and not so great on other sources.  At this price, this mic is still a deal even if it's frequency response chart shows that it doesn't have the flattest response.
