Who In The Hell is Michael Wagener?

An Introduction To Michael Wagener

I first learned who Michael Wagener was when visiting a big dog recording forum a few years ago. He was discussing how he got the drum sound for the first Skid Row record. Maybe not all of you are big fans of Skid Row, but I vividly remember watching Skid Row on Dial MTV back with Adam Curry at my Grandpa's house. I was only 8 or 9 years old, but I remember like it was yesterday, no pun intended (Remember Yesterday was Skid Row's biggest hit).

It turns out that Michael Wagener produced that first Skid Row record. After reading the tremendous post about a record that had a big effect on my childhood, I did a little more research and it turned out that Micheal Wagener had done a ton of records that were a big deal to me growing up in the 80s. Later on I discovered that Wagener put on a production workshop which consisted of hands-on recording and mixing of one song from top to bottom. I knew I wanted to attend the second I heard about it.

Anyway, so if you'd like to know who this Wagener guys is, here is some of the records he's done that I own or have been bombarded with in my lifetime. Michael Wagener Discography

Some people may be impressed by zillions of platinum records that won't all fit in his lobby, but I must say that it is a small room! Ha ha

Lastly, if you'd like to bug Wagener, you can annoy him with your stupid questions at High End Gearslutz Forum where he is a moderator.

The Skid Row tune wasn't called "Yesterday" or even "Remember Yesterday", It was called "I Remember You". Wagener is a monster and a very nice guy. He throws info in that forum that many engineers or producers would consider their secrets.
