Okay, I've decided to make the jump to Cubase SX3.? I've never even touched the software before, so I'm going to be moving into a new realm.? On top of that, I know next to nothing about midi sequencing and programming.?
So I have a fairly unique situation here.? I've engineered more records than I can count and I've got an active recording website.? Usually, I have to "pretend" like I'm a newbie all over again.? It's easy to lose perspective and say "Oh, those first 15 albums were easy!".? Obviously, they were not.?
Step #1
Check out steinberg.net.? Spend 20 minutes there.? There are some interesting videos that demonstrate what Cubase SX3 is capable of.? For sometimes just knowing the possibilities is enough.? I'll figure out how to actually make it work later.
Step #2
Check out Steinbergusers.com.? In particular they have a ton of newbie videos.? I've only watched one so far, but I can tell they are high quality and straight to the point.? The guy doesn't sound annoying either (which always seam to plague tutoral videos).?

Step #3
I was highly recommended to check out this site by a reputable source..

Step#4
This site was recommended for learning the midi / sampler stuff.? However, I was told to be careful because many of these guys have "never been in the trenches with a microphone".

Of course, before joining any other forum, it is HIGHLY recommended that you join my recording forum!
Step#5
Another forum that was recommended to me for learning about using samples, Cubase SX, etc is www.northernsounds.com.
Step#6
I was told to check out the following samples, instruments, etc.

* Arturia Minimoog V
* Garritan Personal Orchestra
* Spectrasonics Stylus RMX
* Native Instruments B4
* Linn RMIV Drum Module
