? Here's a practice method to improve your soloing. Quick and easy and it works. First I would recommend buying a book that contains the major and minor blues scales?because 90% of all rock solos are based off these scales. Learn the notes in the scales first.
? Second, Grab a old school tape recorder with a mic?or if you have a recording program on your computer that will work also.? Play a G chord in a rhythmic pattern for 2 minutes never changing the chord. Then play that back and play a solo over the pre-recorded rhythym track and find the notes that sound 'Right" over the chord. Next repeat the same steps over a C chord and then a D chord.?Now Record a pattern of the chords G,C, and?D in a blues style for about 5 minutes.? Play the backing track back and start soloing over that complete pattern of chord changes. This will help you learn to play the correct notes over the chords and the changes in the chords. Then move on to other chord changes to play over in? the key of A or E.
?Here's a tip also. Learn the notes in the right keys of the songs. You'll have notes in? the scale of G major, A major etc. Remember the first chord of the song you play?is what the key of the song is in, and that will help you in playing the right notes in that?key.?Lastly just go to work and PRACTICE!

After playing lead guitar for nearly 10 years now, I never really thought of just soloing over one chord to find the notes that worked. After repeating this with multiple chords, it makes sense that you will be able to piece together the acceptable notes as long as you keep the key in mind.
