I Need A Sequencer
By Brandon Drury | Published  05/6/2006
I've decided that I'm going back to my midi routes. I've got a buddy who can write songs like crazy and can hold his own in front of the vocal mic as well. He's about as talented of a guy as I've found in my 5 years of recording.

Anyway, him and I are sort of entering into a partnership or sorts where he writes, I producer, engineer, and mix. It's just make sense to hire a drummer, teach the drummer to play, setup mics, and track the drums when we could very quickly program them and use samplers.

Of course the idea here is not to make a great record. It's to make great songs that other people can make great record with. The power and flexibility of using midi sequencing during the songwriting process is too strong to ignore.

You can read my long winded audio epiphany and see why I think making records with samplers is 100% acceptable.
