Cubase SX3 First Day Tips
By Brandon Drury | Published  07/1/2006

My first days of learning Cubase SX3 have been slow at best. I've been plagued by a number of the usual learning curve issues. (How do I turn this on? Type of problems).

It took me well over an hour to figure out why hitting the record button wasn't doing anything. Even though I had read in the manual that “syncing” should be turned off, I never realized that turning syncing off meant that the display should say “int” for internal. I had set syncing to “offline” which does some sort of sync to video type crap or something, if I recall correctly.

Anyway, so make sure that you have syncing set to “int” for internal.

Another thing. It took me 3 hours to get sound to play out of Cubase SX. Why? Mainly because I'm stupid. For whatever reason, I felt compelled to right click when it came time to pick my inputs and outputs. (Don't ask me why). It turns out that you don't need to right click too often in Cubase SX3. I would have saved myself hours of grief if I would have simply left clicked on the menu that allowed me to pick my outputs.
