As usual, after a demanding mix day I burned a copy and slapped it in my home computer's cd-rom. AHHHHHH. BOOMY BOOMY BOOMY. I thought I had the mix pretty solid when I heard it on my monitors. I guess not!!
Well, it looks like I'm going have to do some serious control room work. You'd think after 5 years of doing this, I'd finally have that dream control room of mine, but I'm always in the middle of projects and down time to re-arrange my place was never practical.
Now I'm drastically reducing the number of clients I work with in the hopes of drastically improving audio quality and a big part of that is gonna have to be room acoustics.
So the first thing I'm going to do (in between learning how to use Cubase) is improve my room. Since I'm switching to mostly midi sequencing, I'll be working with less people in the room. Ergonomics will be less of an issue and fast, accurate mixing will become an even great priority.
