Danny Danzi Interview

Brandon Drury —  June 5, 2012 — 1 Comment

For most here at RecordingReview.com Danny Danzi needs no introduction.  It’s a sensational guitar player and a tip top engineer.  He’s well known for giving EXTREME in-depth advise and I consider him to be one of the most helpful members here at RecordingReview.com whether he’s talking life of touring around the world, running two recording studios, being a busy mastering engineer, or making the next album for his label gig.

There’s a TON of outstanding info.  Few people tell it like Danny Danzi does or do it with such enthusiasm.  I had a blast with this interview and I think you will to.

Brandon

Awesome interview. I always enjoy Dani’s posts, just because I always learn so much. Now hearing his accent tell the story brings a whole new dimension to it!

Thanks guys, much appreciated. Thanks again Brandon for thinking of me and letting me do this with you. I had so much fun….stuff like this pumps me up because I don’t get a chance to really get down and talk about this stuff too often other than every once in a while me and a few engineer friends and some interns get together for a few drinks and have a meeting of the minds as we like to call it. It’s really cool to talk shop but even cooler to be interviewed where I can share what I really feel. So thanks for that!

Highly entertaining!

With a few Danny and/or Brandon photo stillshots thrown in, the video could have been better yet.

I think it’s a Boss’ pedal tribute. At the end, it’s just unplayable

Where can I find this ARC Setup Article/Tutorial that you mentioned? This is the second time I’ve been pointed towards room compensation in the recent past, so I’m going to take it as a sign from the Universe to look into it more seriously

I just found the article on the ARC plugin from a link on Danny’s website (it was actually on the homepage). Here’s the direct link:

Hi, Danny. Man, you might type 80 wpm but you talk 100. Your enthusiasm is admirable. Give me a call if you ever find yourself out here on the west coast, we’ll have a who-can-talk-fastest competition! I’ll give you a head start.

I had my cam ready to go actually. The mic I used was from my web cam. We’ll have to do that next time if Brandon and you guys can sit through another one with me babbling. LOL!

Hey Dave! You know it’s funny, and I mean this…I listened back to that interview this afternoon and cringed. I’m usually not THAT excited. But then again, here I am talking to the boss of RR who I’ve been wanting to talk to since I joined here, and all these things were running through my mind so fast, I didn’t even say some of them correctly. I need to post some edits actually because I was talking faster than I could think and left some things out that should have been in. LOL! Like for example, when I spoke about ARC 2, I have NOT tested that product nor have I seen it yet. A guy I know at IK asked if I’d be interested in getting involved with it when the time comes and I said yes. I sort of made it sound like IK made “us” do a test without ARC. I meant to say me and some of my other engineer friends took it upon ourselves to do test mixes without ARC.

Anyway, I’d love to talk to you sometime man. And you can do all the talking if you want because I’d enjoy listening to you as much as I enjoy your awesome insight and Sonar forum posts. But if I’m ever on the West Coast before you move, for sure I’m looking you up!

LOL Nick!! Actually, I forgot it tanked for you too…so you’d be #3. But I’m going to solve that when I come out to your place this year, so you don’t really count YET! No clue about ARC 2 at this time. I heard it was in the works, and one of their guys had asked me to get involved, I said “sure let me know” and I’ve not heard anything since. I don’t know a thing about it, how it might be improved or what different stuff it may do. I was just told it’s going to be pretty incredible and will address where the last version may have fallen short in some areas.

Glad you guys enjoyed the interview….I’ll try and relax next time and breathe a bit more. LOL! One thing I hope though…is that people take to me a bit differently now that they’ve had a chance to hear my voice. I’m just a happy lil guy that treasures everything. I get excited like a kid in a toy store doing stuff like this and hope that people may think of this interview when they see me type something if they may have taken me wrong in the past on things I may have posted. I get angry like everyone else does from time to time, but what you heard there is pretty much me 98% of the time in life. The last thing I ever want is to rule a roost or be involved in a confrontation with anyone. We’re all in this world together..we’re stronger when we make the best of it as a team and I just share what’s worked for me. Thanks again everyone!

Freakin awesome!!! I was hanging off every last word in that interview! It was like listening to gods converse on the state of music union to me…!

Are you going to interview Garageband next? I’d love to hear that conversation!

  1. Great interview! Is Danny David Lee Roth’s illegitimate son?
