I have heard the comment that EZdrummer’s samples are recorded at 44.1 khz and therefore are not compatible with 96 khz projects. If this is true, would the same thing apply to the samples with Superior Drums 2.0 ?

Hmm. I'd have to look that one up. I'm not exactly sure. I never recommend using 96k anyway unless a person is convinced that it sounds better. I'm not.

No one wants to just record some tracks, fun it through some presets, and hope that those are the perfect for the sound you want.

The biggie here is "hope". If only pushing a single button got me the exact sound I'm looking for, I'd gladly use it. That's not a big deal. I have no need to work harder than I need to.

The problem is it rarely happens.

The examples in Superior Drummer 2.0 are a great place for beginners to learn or at least to start from.

Hey Brandon, I am installing Superior Drummer 2.0 on my pc right now. I can't wait to use it, I am in the process of installing the Superior 2.0 sounds- and it's taking forever right now says I have about 2 hours before all the files are installed! Is it like that on every sound install? I did mine with sticks only.

I completely agree with your thoughts on presets. No one wants to just record some tracks, fun it through some presets, and hope that those are the perfect for the sound you want. I would never do that. On the other hand, though, being a beginner, using those presets for direction has really helped me see the tweakability of lots of things (as you said, parallel compression) and gives one a lot of experience to see what things can sound like with different settings.
