No, I have plenty of work (more than I want right now) and I never claimed that people don't use pitch correction with success. Simply because I'm not a huge fan of a particular tool doesn't mean I need counseling. Not every guy who isn't still excited by a fad that started 11 years ago has a gun in his mouth. Just wait until the new fads begin that you don't understand. It's hard to guess how ridiculous these new fads will be, but I'm positive you won't like them. Give it 5 years.

The fact that I've put tons of hours into both plugins suggests that I'm aware of the potential benefits. If I didn't believe that these tools had a good use, I wouldn't be qualified to express an opinion, obviously. If you couldn't get this from the article, I'm not sure what to tell you. You may want to read it again without needing someone to agree with you. So while I've done numerous projects that used the "T-Pain" sound on Autotune, I'm still not jumping for joy at using it.

After a re-read, I'm convinced that this isn't an emotional article/review in the slightest bit. It's certainly a subjective opinion (which you won't find in a politically correct recording magazine) and I certainly have an internal bias to at least warn you of the dangers and encourage fundamentals.

The idea that a GREAT vocal should be captured first, tuning second seems like it would be tough to argue with. Of course, I deal in the home recording world where many artists put too much stock in the tools. This is most obvious when people want to do one single take, don't have ideal pitch, and expect the "machine" to do it all.

So even if I'm excessively cautious about using some modern tools, in the long run I think I'm taking the right approach for the genre.

This guy has obviously been locked in a studio for a long time. Rock, Pop, and HipHop genres are using this tool with amazing success. This article seems like an engineer with his feelings hurt and who is not getting enough work. Hating any tool that is designed to help artists is a good thing. Times have changed and you need to get on the train or decide you will be the guy in his basement recording irrelevant music. This article was emotional and not very informative.

If you tune vocals during tracking you are an idiot.

Wow! That's a bold statement! Everyone has their own way of working, so I'd like to hear why you feel so strongly against tuning vocals during tracking process.

I love the idea of once a singer has done a line that has the intensity we want but maybe the notes are a bit shakey, to find out if running it through Auto-tune or Melodyne really quickly will fix the pitch issue. If tuning the vocal doesn't solve the problem, we know we need to attack that phrase again.
